Storm-Damaged Exterior Trim Repaint in Exeter
After a nor'easter or a hard winter, the trim takes the hit first. We check it, prep it and repaint it before water gets into the wood.
Wind-driven rain, ice and falling branches beat up fascia, window trim and corner boards. Exeter's open, wooded lots see plenty of wind and plenty of debris. Paint that is cracked or missing lets water in, and wet trim rots.

What Storms Do to Exterior Trim
- Paint cracked, chipped or stripped by wind-driven rain and debris
- Caulk joints split open by freeze and thaw
- Fascia soaked by gutters that overflowed or pulled loose
- Window sills and casings that sat in standing water
Check First: Paint or Replace?
Not every damaged board needs replacing. If the wood is sound, it gets scraped, sanded, primed and painted. If a screwdriver sinks into it, it is rotted, and painting rotted wood just hides the problem for a season. We check the trim, show you what we find, and tell you straight which boards are paint jobs and which need replacing first.
Check the gutters too
Storm damage to fascia often starts at the gutter. If the gutters are clogged or pulled away, get that fixed so the new paint does not get soaked again. See our gutter cleaning page.
How We Repaint Storm-Worn Trim
Scrape loose paint, sand the edges, spot-prime bare wood, re-caulk open joints, and apply two finish coats. Trim on the side of the house that faces the weather usually needs the most work, so that is where we look hardest.
Timing
Paint needs dry wood and mild temperatures to cure. If the damage happens late in the year, we will tell you honestly whether the work should wait for spring.
Insurance paperwork
If your trim damage is part of an insurance claim, a written estimate helps. Ours are always free and written.
